The first thing to check about a care provider

Whether they are on the CQC register. Providing personal care without it is unlawful.

How we work

Registration, checks, and consistency

Home care is arranged under pressure, usually after a fall or a hospital discharge, and the checks that matter get skipped precisely when they matter most. CQC registration is the first: providing personal care in England is a regulated activity, registration brings inspection and a published rating, and anyone offering it without registration is operating outside the law.

The second is recruitment. Enhanced DBS checks including the adult barred list, right-to-work verification and induction training are not paperwork — they are the difference between a vetted workforce and an unvetted one entering someone's home while they are at their least able to object.

The third is unglamorous and matters enormously to the person receiving care: consistency. The same small team, arriving when they said they would. Personal care is intimate work, and being washed by a stranger you have not met is a different experience from being helped by someone you know.
